Business Networking ? Why would I write a blog about business networking when the site is about Sun Tzu and business / SEO Strategy? Well I see business networking as an essential part of any business strategy. A focused business network in the business areas that are relevant to your own business / campaign can massively help to support your campaigns.

Developing a solid business network takes time and effort, and requires a strategy to drive your business networking activities. I am not someone who agrees with the connect with a million people that you barely know strategy. I much prefer being selective in who I network with and spend time getting to know them and their business (both approaches have there place). This way I can genuinely support them and spot oppurtunties for them at the same time giving them the incentive to support me in my activities.

My Top 10 tips for Business networking

  • Be selective in who you spend time with, cut your losses early
  • Attend networking events regularly, it forces you to fine tune your pitch
  • Develop a business networking strategy
  • Develop something unique that make it easy for people to remember you by
  • Make sure that you connect online with someone within 48 hours of meeting them
  • Focus your network on your industry to start with, then expand
  • Make a real effort to help people in your network, you really can learn a lot about different approaches and oppurtunities as you get to know them
  • Dont focus on just finding clients, use your network to buy stuff as well as sell, dont forget to look for potential Joint Ventures
  • If you have a particular skill or resource that you can use to help someone in your business network without costing much then use if freely
  • Be consistent
