Sun Tzu Strategy
Sun Tzu Strategy is a term I hear all the time. I think that there is frequently a misunderstanding of what this refers to.
I always think that he had two basic strategies and then a series of techniques for dealing with individual scenarios which could be intertwined for a endless range of options that he could use.
The first and most important strategy was to avoid fighting. His strategy was to always try to win in order by:
- Superior Positioning
- Diplomacy
- Threat of Military Force
- Military Force.
In business terms Superior Positioning was Achieved by having:
- Superior Brand
- Superior People
- Superior Alliances
- Superior Resources
- Superior Technology
His Second strategy was that he would only fight when he knew he would win, this he achieved by going through a set process.
- Definition of Terrain
- Measurements
- Estimations of Quantities
- Calculations based on Estimates
- Comparisons based on Calculations
To me these are the two critical strategies of SunTzu, these two things set him apart from all others as they ensure that he was
